Woman on £99 mystery trip becomes 'most hated person' on plane after passport mix-up

When it comes to travelling, we Brits like to try and make the experience as pleasant as possible for all.

But it seems there's always someone on the train/bus/plane that always ends up making things a little frustrating for others - whether it's a screaming child or a stranger hogging the armrest.

One woman has had people in stitches over her own experience of this, claiming she accidentally became the most "hated person on a flight" after she purchased a £99 ticket for a Wowcher mystery holiday and ended up delaying take off.

As first reported by Birmingham Live, the student, from Scotland, went viral on TikTok after sharing her story. The clip, which was posted last year, has recently resurfaced and many people found it both incredibly amusing and relatable.

The young woman, named Kirsty, told how she'd purchased the Wowcher experience where you pay £99 on Wowcher for a holiday, with flights and hotel included.

However, the trip is a mystery as you don't know where you're going when you book it.

Kirsty explains that when she booked the trip, she was told that their bags were included in the price as they were just cabin bags.

But when they got to the airport, it turned out that this wasn't the case - and the plane ended up getting delayed because of the mix-up.

"We got all the way to the gate at the airport and just as we are boarding the woman at RyanAir says 'look, you've got to put these bags in the hold.' We were a bit annoyed because we had to pay extra money that we didn't know about and they put the bags in the hold," she said.

"But that is not why the plane was delayed.

"We take our seats and my pal turns to me and asks 'oh do you have your passport?' My passport was in the bag that they put in the hold. And you can't get through customs without your passport."

Kirsty went on to share how she had to go and speak to the pilot, then the pilot in turn had to speak to the ground crew.

She added: "The ground crew had to bring my bag out from the hold they just put it into. And then I had to rummage through my bag in front of everyone on the plane.

"And then they had to repack the hold with my bag in it. I was the most hated person on that flight."

Hundreds of people took to the comments in response to her post, with one person admitting they'd had a similar experience: "Nooo I did this and only realised when I landed in Barcelona. Held up the whole school trip."

Another wrote: "I'd have to pass away."

While someone else replied: "Oh no, I would freaking cry."

Kirsty added: "The walk of shame down the aisle with everyone glaring at me was truly a moment I'd pay to forget."
