'I live entirely in 1940s - from how I dress and even hide modern appliances'

Nostalgia-mad Hannah Hall has turned the clock back to the 1940s.

She lives in a vintage home, cooks wartime food and listens to all her music on gramophone records.

Hannah, who prefers not to say how old she is, fell in love with the era watching old films with her grandad.

Not content with dressing like 1940s stars, she set about devoting her life to all things retro, making her home a “vintage kingdom”.

The house, which Hannah shares with mum Stephanie, has a 1940s cooker, period bread bins and old Oxo tins and ration boxes. The only modern item visible is a TV.

Hannah, a medical examiner officer from Nottingham, said: “My grandpa Henry told me all his stories from his time in the RAF.

“We spent hours watching Second World War films. My favourite era is the 1940s.

“The people’s tenacity was inspiring. I love the ‘make do and mend’ and community feel. I feel nostalgic for an era I never even lived in.”

Hannah and Stephanie have a mini-allotment in the garden and a log store.

“We hide all our modern appliances such as the washer and microwave. I love simplicity.”

Hannah added: “My taste in fashion has been inspired by old Hollywood starlets.

“My staples are red lips, pearl earrings, faux fur and patterns. I curl my hair and put it in a side parting.”
