Woman mortified after she mishears 'compliment' from waiter in restaurant

A restaurant diner says she was left completely mortified after she thought a waiter paid her a kind compliment.

The customer was left red-faced after realising she actually misheard him.

We've all been there, in busy restaurants it can be near impossible to hear what's being said - and that's what TikTok star Julie found when she visited a Chipotle diner.

She was eating out and the waiter asked if she wanted white rice with her meal, but she thought he had paid her a compliment by saying "nice eyes."

Julie responded and thanked him for the compliment, saying "thank you, I rarely get complimented on my eyes", before the reality dawned on her and she was deeply embarrassed, reports The Mirror.

Julie's clip clearly resonated with TikTok users as soon she had nearly three million views and a flurry of comments, most of whom could relate.

And a second wrote: "The fact you had to continue to tell them the rest of your order after this."

Then a third added: "I work in fast food and someone asked for mayonnaise and I thought they asked for a band-aid and I got the whole first aid kit out."

Another TikTok user had a similar story, and shared it with Julie. They wrote: "Once a man said, 'the view is gorgeous', but I thought he said 'you’re gorgeous', so I said 'thank you so much' and honestly I don’t think I’ll ever recover."

Meanwhile, a woman was left stunned when she received a message from a date that was meant for his friend.

TikTok user Samantha Rose explained that she had been talking to Jake, a guy she met on Bumble, for a few days before their conversation moved to iMessage.

Chat between the pair appeared to be heating up as he showered her with compliments before their upcoming date.

In a video that has been viewed more than 7.8 million times, Samantha, who goes by the username @samantha_roseeeee, shared a screenshot of the conversation which started with Jake saying: "Yeah I can't wait to meet you! You're beautiful. Would 7ish work?"

Samantha then replied: "Thank you that's sweet. Yeah, that should be fine!"

"I'll be coming straight from work so you'll have to look over my work uniform," he told her.
