Woman mortified after ruining sister's Christmas gift - but people blame husband

If you plan on getting a parcel delivered to someone else's home, it is a good idea to give them a heads-up in advance. But you might also need to let them know what to expect, as one man found out the hard way. Mike LeMieux hoped to surprise his wife with a designer present for Christmas, and he went all out - ordering the secret gift to his sister-in-law's house.

Unfortunately, his plan quickly fell apart when the sister was stunned to receive the luxury gift - and called his wife in shock. Baffled by the present's gift card - and not knowing what to expect - she mistakenly thought the parcel was for her.

Keen to unravel the mystery, she contacted her sister for help, and it was only then that she realised her error. Fortunately, the trio were happy to laugh about the mishap - as seen when they shared the hilarious story to social media.

Posting to Instagram and TikTok, author Ashley Lemieux revealed her sister Brooke Carlson's mistake. Ashley explained: "Yesterday my sister gets a Louis Vuitton bag in the mail with no note as to who sent it. She text me immediately absolutely freaking out, to the point where she thought she legitimately was going to faint."

Ashely added: "She goes as far as having her husband film an unboxing video of her and the bag," while playing a clip from Brooke's video, in which she proudly displays the bag. "She was going to post this on social media, asking who sent her the bag," the onscreen caption explained.

The sister continued: "She is truly in utter disbelief like this is the best moment of her life. There's a note in the bag that she keeps reading over and over, trying to figure out who it is from.

"Basically, it says, 'you're a boss, bosses need nice bags. I love you so much cutie.' She calls me just absolutely freaking out. She keeps asking did you send me this bag. I'm like, I promise I did not send you a Louis Vuitton bag.

"She keeps looking at the bag and finally on the box she finally finds an address, and she says, Ashley, this has Mike's name on it and your address, this is from you. I was like Brooke I did not send you a bag and I know that Mike doesn't call you cutie. Did Mike send you a Christmas present for me?

"Time stood still. I heard the wheels turning in her head, then she remembered she received this text." The video then flashed to a screenshot sent by Mike, telling Brooke: "The present for Ashley will be at your house Tuesday."

"She was so shocked to find a Louis Vuitton bag on her doorstep, that she forgot she had been in on the Christmas surprise," Ashley explained. Laughing after realising her mistake, Brooke can be heard saying: "I literally could not feel worse."

Fortunately, everyone found the mix-up hilarious. In a follow-up video, the husband could not stop laughing after the sisters explained what went wrong. Talking to Brooke on the phone, Mike said: "I feel so bad for you because you were probably were like so excited that you got a Louis Vuitton bag. I should have told you what it was." Brooke replied: "You don't have anything to apologise for."

Equally delighted were the millions of viewers who watched the videos, though many also felt sorry for Brooke. One person commented: "I feeellll terrible for the sister lol." A second said: "I think mike should get her a bag too!!!!" And another quipped: "Welp, guess the secrets out!! lol."

Meanwhile, others jokingly passed the blame. Someone said: "I mean… he didn't tell her what it was, just that something was coming," and a second replied: "But it didn’t have her name or address on it, you think that would’ve triggered her memory a little bit lol." But Ashley pointed out: "It had her name on it."
