A woman who was tragically mauled to death in a savage dog attack was a ‘one in a million mum’, her family have said in a touching tribute.
Ann Dunn, 65, died at her home in Kirkdale, Liverpool, on Monday, October 3 after being attacked by an out-of-control dog.
Her family have spoken out following her untimely death and released a heart-breaking statement mourning their loss.
Following the death of the 65-year-old, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control and has since been released on conditional bail.
Five American bulldogs were handed over to the authorities and humanely destroyed following the horror attack.
Ann’s family said that life wouldn’t be the same without the beloved mum and nan who worked as a cleaner at Liverpool John Moores University.
In a statement released through police on Thursday, her family said: "Our one in a million mum.
"Life will never be the same without you."
Officers were called to the house in St Brigid's Crescent by the North West Ambulance Service at 4.25pm, a spokesman for Merseyside Police said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other tributes flooded in alongside the family’s, with a touching comment left from the university where she worked.
A spokesperson for Liverpool John Moores said: "The university community is absolutely shocked and devastated by this tragic loss and to lose Ann in this way is just heart-breaking.
"Ann was hard-working and dedicated and had so many friends across the organisation. It’s just awful and she will be terribly missed. Our thoughts at this time are with her family and loved-ones."
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said recently: "This is clearly a very distressing incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lady who died. Our enquiries remain ongoing as we seek to establish what has happened and I would urge anyone who could assist our enquiries to get in touch."
