Woman leaves 14-year marriage for 'soulmate' - only for him to turn her down

A woman has opened up about her jaw-dropping encounter during her marriage, and defended her somewhat "crazy" decision to end it the way she did.

Amanda Trenfield was married for 14 years - but left her husband for a man she'd met in a bar just once. She claims there was "electric" chemistry between her and Jason, so she put an end to her marriage to seek him out again.

But, upon meeting up with her for a second time, Jason turned down her advances leaving Amanda single again after uprooting her entire life. She's now spoken about the experience in more detail in a podcast and says she "doesn't regret a thing", writes the Mirror.

Speaking to Mia Freedman on the No Filter podcast, Amanda explained how the rollercoaster of a romance began when she was on a work trip with her husband.

She was attempting to use this time to reconnect with him, but they soon met Jason and chatted to him over dinner, before he offered to buy them both a drink later in the evening.

Amanda said: "It happened to be my favourite rose. And during the course of that evening, we just stayed talking - there was a depth of connection I just hadn't felt before."

Unfortunately for Amanda, Jason turned her down (@amanda_trenfield/Instagram)

The following day, Amanda then approached Jason and discussed her feelings for him - and they shared a quick kiss together.

She said: "I opened the conversation with, 'I felt strange and very connected to you last night', and he said he felt the same way.

"He was there in those moments and felt the connection like I did. He felt the kiss like I did. But he decided to say no and move forward with his life without looking back."

Previously Amanda, a life coach, spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald and described how the energy between her and Jason was "somehow charged" and that she knew that this was more than physical attraction.

She said: "We enjoyed a body-hugging embrace where I whispered into his ear, 'This isn't over, I need to see you again.' He put his hands tightly on my waist and pulled me close. 'Yes,' he replied. It was all I needed to hear.

"I had never felt anything like this before.

"I now know without hesitation, without question, without any doubt in my mind, my body or my heart, that the energy we experienced that evening was our souls connecting."

And readers noticed that the extract was taken from Amanda's new memoir - When A Soulmate Says No.

The title of the book had people shocked as they found out that she had left her husband and their 14 years together, only to be turned down by her supposed soulmate.

Thousands of people on Twitter were quick to weigh in on the situation, with many admitting this is the kind of story they would have taken to their grave. Others were keen to know more about Jason and how he felt about that one time they met.

One person posted: "Girl they couldn't have tortured this out of me at Guantanamo."

Another said: "Plot twist: Jason has an entirely different version of this evening."

"This is simultaneously the worst and greatest thing I ever read," proclaimed a third.
