Woman injured on hike saved by Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue

The Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue team saved a woman yesterday who was injured while out hiking.

Another hiker came across the woman who sustained a lower leg injury while hiking and they called emergency services.

The Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Siochana to attend the scene.

They were called out at 2:47pm on Sunday, June 12 and the team stood down at 6:40pm.

Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team posted: “A group of 3 left Glenmacnass around 10.30 on Sunday morning.

“A few hours into the hike one of the group, a female in her 60’s went over on her ankle and was unable to bear weight on it.

“Another hiker who came across the group contacted Mountain rescue and personnel were dispatched to the casualty location given to the callout officer by the informant.

“After the patient was assessed and pain relief administered, she was then packaged and loaded onto a stretcher for extraction down to a waiting NAS ambulance and crew.”
