Woman in stitches after finding shrine to Nicolas Cage hidden in her house

A woman has been left in hysterics after discovering a shrine to Nicolas Cage in her house, complete with candles, goblets and movie paraphernalia. She had called workman to her house to have new cables laid - and had no idea about the shrine hidden away in the crawlspace.

When her cable technicians got to work, they came across at least 12 photos of Nicolas Cage hanging on string from the ceiling, a kneeling rug, candles, a goblet, and a box full of items seen in his movies. She had lived in the house for an entire year before discovering the shrine - and has been left wondering which one of her previous homeowners installed it.

Speaking on her behalf, her friend said on Reddit: "It was right under my friend's bedroom too. When her mum saw it she got in there and cleaned it all out because she was way too weirded out by it.

"It must have been a set up by the previous owner. I only know that she was a middle-aged lady, not sure if she has kids."

Nicolas Cage, an actor, producer and director, has been in at least 119 movies including The Rock, Raising Arizona, Face/Off, Con Air, and Leaving Las Vegas.

The 59-year-old has been awarded Academy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work, as well as being nominated for two British Academy Film Awards.

While most Reddit users laughed at the Nicolas Cage shrine, others shared stories about the strange things they have left or found in their homes.

One user said: "We should all do this - a couple hundred years from now it will be a religion."

Another user added: "I had something similar happen once. I helped my sister move into her house, it had an unfinished basement the previous owners were in the process of working on when they sold it.

"There was a room about 5 foot by 5 foot with concrete walls. Red paint had been splattered on the concrete reminiscent of blood.

"On the back wall, there was a large Red Cross with three names written at either side and the top. Those names were the Father, the Son, and The A-Team.

"My sister didn't primer it before she painted it white and the strange message seeped through. She almost had a heart attack when she saw it coming back."

A third user added: "My father did something similar when he was closing off an old closet that the owners never got around to sealing up.

"He went to the back of the closet, measured it, and got a piece of long paper that would fit in there.

"He then proceeded to draw a life-sized alien. I've forgotten what he wrote in its speech bubble, but it was something vaguely threatening.

"He taped and glued it to the wall, and then sealed the whole closet off, so it blended into the walls of the hallway.

"If anyone ever knocks down that section of wall, they will find a somewhat intimidating alien, with absolutely no reason or context for it being there."
