Woman in hospital after she was hit by SUV

Two people were taken to hospital after a SUV hit a woman on a busy road in north Liverpool.

The emergency services were called out to the County Road area in Kirkdale at around 9.20am today (Saturday) following reports that a a black Peugeot hit a woman.

Police said that the woman was taken to hospital but that her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Police said the crash happened at the point where County Road merges with Walton Road.

The driver of the Peugeot SUV was also taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

Earlier today police said that one person had been taken to hospital but have since issued an update.

A section of County Road near Spellow Lane has been closed while police carry out enquiries.

Photographs taken at the scene this morning showed that a SUV in front of a fish and chip shop on Walton Road near the junction with Spellow Lane.

The shops shutters were down and there was debris on the pavement.

Police said: "Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital for her injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

"The driver of the Peugeot has also been taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution.

"CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out and anyone with any information is asked to contact police."
