A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital after a hit and run.
Earlier today, Tuesday, a woman was "struck down" by the Tesco on Longmoor Lane by a black Mazda6 saloon car, according to a witness. The driver then fled the scene in the direction of Rice Lane.
The woman was then taken to hospital. Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 11.20am at the junction near Cedar Road in Walton.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following a fail to stop road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car in Walton earlier today (Tuesday, January 17).
"At around 11.20am, we received a report that a black Mazda6 had collided with a woman in her 70s on Longmoor Lane, near its junction with Cedar Road.
"The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene towards Rice Lane. The pedestrian was taken to hospital for assessment to her injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening."
Sergeant Simon Duffy of the roads policing unit said: "We are in the early stages of investigating what happened and would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.
"If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, please let us know. In addition, we appeal to anyone with dashcam, or who lives locally with CCTV or smart doorbell footage, to get in touch."
