A woman in her 20s was killed in a house fire on New Year’s Day, as other residents were evacuated.
Emergency services, including the Met Police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service were called to the incident on Old Kent Road in London, on Sunday afternoon.
A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was killed in the tragedy.
Officers evacuated other residents from the scene of the fire.
Police are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
A spokesman for the Met Police said: “Police were called to Old Kent Road, SE1, shortly before 5pm on Sunday, January 1, to reports of a fire.
"Officers attended along with London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service. Residents were evacuated and road closures were put in place.
"Sadly, one woman, believed to be in her 20s, died at the scene. A crime scene has been put in place.
"Enquiries as to the cause of the fire are ongoing."
