Woman in feud with neighbours walking on her lawn asks for tips to stop them

A woman has found herself in a feud with her neighbour who she claims is refusing to respect boundaries.

She took to online forum Mumsnet to vent and ask for solutions to stop them from walking over her front lawn.

It seems as she has been caught in the middle as the mum explained that the neighbours use her garden as a path to the house on the other side of hers.

A fence seemed out of the question, and the popular forum AIBU [Am I Being Unreasonable] on Mumsnet was alight with suggestions.

Writing anonymously on Mumsnet, the woman explained: "Our neighbours keep walking over our lawn and drive. Our neighbours to the left have stopped doing this once we spoke to them but currently our neighbours to the right keep doing this.

"We've been having problems with them as they are having building work done and we had to stop their builders parking on our drive.

"We don't have a car so they've previously asked to park on our drive but we said no. They are now constantly walking over our lawn."

The woman explains that the neighbours on the right cut through their front garden to get to another neighbour's on the left side of her home.

She continues: "Our living room over looks the lawn so we see it constantly. It's driving us nuts!

"We've asked them to stop. What can we do about this? We're actually trying to move due to the neighbours."

The thread quickly gained traction with 242 comments as people suggested ways for her to deter the neighbours. While many said a fence, others went for a more abrupt device.

"Fence. Or automatic sprinklers?", one said.

A second echoed: "Water sprinkler motion activated."

A fellow mumsnet user replied: "That’s just rude unless you have massive 100 metre lawn. They can just walk to the pavement and across surely. I’m afraid sprinkles is the only way to go. Even on camp sites it’s considered rude to walk straight through other campers pitches."

"I'd do the sprinkler thing. If they get annoyed about getting wet, you are watering the lawn and didn't expect random people to be wandering about on your garden uninvited," another pointed.

And a fourth suggested something that most people wouldn't expect when walking outside: "Get a load horn and honk it out the window every time you see them on your lawn."

"Planters with prickly things in them AND sprinklers", one replied.

But it seemed that the woman's neighbours are adamant about their walking path as the original poster gave an update just days later.

"Update- We put lawn ornaments down the side separating our lawn and their drive.

"This morning when we went to walk the dogs they had moved the two ornaments onto our doorstep! I've moved them back. So glad we're moving!"
