Woman dies after crashing motorcycle on bridge

A 33-year-old woman has died after her motorbike crashed on Lady Denman Drive on Thursday night.

It's the eighth recorded fatality on ACT roads this year, with five of those deceased being motorbike riders.

Emergency services were called to the Scrivener Dam bridge in Yarralumla about 9.30pm after witnesses reported a single-vehicle incident.

The motorbike left the road and crashed into a roadside barrier.

Firefighters, paramedics and police arrived to find a woman with serious injuries and subsequently shut down both lanes of the bridge.

According to ACT Policing, the woman was transported to hospital in a critical condition but died on Friday night.

The incident follows another crash on Friday, October 26, on the Barton Highway on-ramp to Gungahlin Drive.

Police said the male rider died in hospital the same day after succumbing to serious injuries.
