Woman horrified by plane passenger's 'weird' behaviour on flight

A holidaymaker was mortified by the behaviour of the passenger in front of her, during a flight.

Food blogger Julie Christensen, 32, shared the uncomfortable situation on TikTok, which has now seen over 2.5m views. Documenting the scene with a video, the woman's hair could be seen hanging over the back of her seat, reaching Julie's drink and eating tray.

Julie admitted she never said anything to the woman at the time as she was "too tired." After posting the video online, she sent a message to travellers to "keep their hair to themselves."

She said: "It was so weird - she started draping her hair over immediately, and she was being very normal about it. At first I was really surprised, I thought 'Oh, we're doing this?'

"I didn't see her face at all and she didn't acknowledge me. I just looked at the guy next to me and he laughed. I thought about whether I should say something but I was so tired, so I just laughed about it. Then so much time passed that it felt too late to say something.

"I wasn't annoyed or anything, because I had so much leg room. It was beautiful, gorgeous hair and looked very nice and clean. I wondered 'why would you throw your beautiful clean hair all over this dirty plane', but I guess it's up to her. Keep your hair to yourself, that's my general advice for travelling - especially when you've done such a nice job of brushing it!"

Julie, from Stavanger, Norway, had been on an Aegean Airlines flight from Athens to Amsterdam to visit family, when the woman's dark mane suddenly dropped in front of her. The three-hour flight was delayed for a further two, meaning Julie sat with the passenger's locks hung over her seat for a whopping five hours, the Manchester Evening News reported.

She joked that she was tempted to put the passenger's locks in a braid, and has now got used to people's bizarre quirks as she travels the world visiting restaurants. She added: "I was tempted to braid it, but I'm not very good at it.

"There was a lot of weird stuff happening on this particular flight, with people taking their shoes off and sticking their feet on your armrest. I've been to 10 countries since April so I'm used to the weird travelling habits people have. Maybe that's why I didn't react so much to the hair, I just thought 'Oh well, another day in the life!'"

More than 5,000 people commented on Julie's TikTok video, where viewers made their feelings about the passenger's lack of 'travel etiquette' clear. One said: "Some people have no consideration."

Another added: "People just forget how to act the second they step into an airport." A third said: "The nerve on some people...she doesn't want her hair to touch the seat. I would definitely close the tray."

A spokesperson for Aegean Airlines said: "We definitely want 'all' our passengers to feel comfortable on board… though we didn't have that in mind. We always need to think about the co-passenger."
