A woman said she heard a loud bang just minutes before an air ambulance landed at the scene of a crash.
Merseyside Police were called to Mather Avenue in Allerton just before 6pm on Tuesday, March 21, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a motorbike and a car had collided on the road near Booker Avenue.
Officers asked for assistance from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service and North West Air Ambulance Charity. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said the injured motorbike rider was "conscious and breathing" at the scene, where he was being assessed by air ambulance crew and paramedics.

The man was transported to hospital where he is now receiving treatment. Merseyside Police described the man's injuries as "non-life changing". The driver of the car was not injured and no arrests have been made by police at the time of writing.
Eyewitnesses living on Mather Road said the area was normally very busy with cars, with one woman adding she heard a "bang" just before 6pm.
She told The ECHO: "I heard the bang because I'm so close to it, but it could have been any bang. Living on the main road and by the traffic lights sometimes cars bump into the back of each other.
"I saw all the police lights outside the window and a few people had stopped on the road to help like they do when there's an accident."
Another couple who live on the road said: "We didn't see it happen at all, we just saw the helicopter and police everywhere.
"We had our tea and saw the helicopter and when I went up the stairs I saw all the police. When I looked out the window there was a person who was injured and a big black helmet on the side of the road. They were covered in a foil sheet.
"It looked really serious, the worst crash we have had for a while. I just hope he's okay."
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were called to a road traffic collision on Mather Avenue, Mossley Hill this evening. Crews were alerted at 5.46pm and on scene at 5.55pm, with two fire engines in attendance.
"Crew arrived to find an RTC involving one car and a motorbike. The car was on all four wheels and the occupant of the car was out of the vehicle with no injuries.
"The motorcyclist was conscious and breathing and being assessed by air ambulance and paramedics."
Anybody who witnessed the crash or had dashcam or CCTV is asked to contact Merseyside Police via 101 quoting the reference 811 of Tuesday, March 21.
