Woman gobsmacked after pal invites her over for takeaway - but eats without her

Sometimes there's no better feeling than being invited over for dinner on a weekend by friends or family - after a stressful week of work. A woman was gobsmacked, therefore, after a family member invited her and her husband over for dinner, but decided to dine without them.

The raging woman took to popular forum Mumsnet to voice her concerns after she and her partner were left "starving" by the ordeal. In the post on Mumsnet, the woman explained: " Family member and I had to borrow an item of each other so decided that I would go to her house tonight to swap items."

"She called this morning and asked if we wanted to stay for dinner.

"We said that would be lovely and both discussed food options and settled on a takeaway after a conversation on what to get from the shop.

"Late this afternoon I get a text saying we are now getting something from the supermarket as we fancy something healthier.

"I replied saying that's good for us as we are both being good with what we eat.

However, the text supposedly left wires crossed, which left the woman fuming once she discovered that she and her husband were without food.

She continued: "When we turn up they have already eaten.

"My partner and I were starving hungry when we turned up, so ended up rushing to the shop after as we had nothing in.

"Surely from the messages I haven’t misread them have I?" She questioned.

Responding to the mishap, viewers took to the comments to share their thoughts on the ordeal - with several agreeing that the woman may have misinterpreted the situation.

One person explained: "If you suggested a takeaway then maybe her saying they'll get something healthier was her saying we'll do this and you get a takeaway."

"I think they were cancelling and you misunderstood. You're not at fault but neither are they," a second added.

A third wrote: "Yes, I think they were saying we're having something healthier, you get the takeaway."

"Sounds like you all got your wires crossed, I wouldn't dwell on it," another commented.
