With the news Greggs is set to open 150 new stores, excitement is building among pastry lovers keen to get their fill of sausage rolls. The announcement also comes as good news for those with a sweet tooth who love the bakery's other tasty snacks.
There are so many to choose from it it is easy to forget all of the options, just take it from one Greggs lover who tried to order her favourite treat and then realised the goodie did not exist.
Luckily, what sounds like a baffling story turned out to be a funny misunderstanding, albeit one that should serve as a cautionary tale for fans ahead of the new openings.
As detailed on TikTok, @tayyyylz got quite a shock when she popped into Greggs hoping to enjoy a "fudge doughnut". But as Taylor, from Glasgow, quickly discovered, the item was not available to order.
Luckily, the shopper found the doughy treat she was after - though it was labelled as something different than she had expected.
Hilariously recapping her experience, Taylor said: "I need to know if I'm going off my nut.
"I just went into Greggs to get a fudge doughnut and they're not called fudge doughnuts anymore.
"It was called something like a caramel custard doughnut. Was it ever called a fudge doughnut, or did I make that up?
"I still got it obviously, but I'm so confused."
And she wasn't the only one. One person said: "I've always called them that!" And another reply read: "Had the exact same experience last week!"
Fortunately, other commenters reckon they've solved the mystery, which would explain why there are photos online that appear to show products listed in-store as fudge doughnuts.
"Yeah you are right it has changed names," someone claimed.
"Yes it was definitely called that," a different commenter agreed.
So there's something to keep in mind next time you're hoping for a sweet fix.
