One woman has gotten the “ultimate revenge” on a neighbour who tried to steal a large portion of her garden by building a fence through it.
A row was sparked between the two landowners when the fence’s builder refused to move it back to their property line.
When the dispute reached a stalemate, the woman was forced to take matters into her own hands.
TikTok user @unbewreathable was stunned when her cheeky neighbour tried to claim a chunk of her garden. She politely requested that they move the new fence back to the property line.
The neighbour point-blank refused, which caused a row between the pair and when it reached a stalemate, the TikToker decided to take matters into her own hands and remove the fence, plank by plank.
A clip of the fence being dismantled has since been viewed almost 20 million times on the video sharing platform, with the homeowner's decision sparking a debate online.
The video shows two workers seemingly dismantling the wooden border and 'neatly' stacking the planks on the neighbour's land for them to deal with.
It was shared with the caption: "My neighbour's fence is on our property…we've asked them to partner with us to correct it…they refused…so here we are!" Follow-up videos show a significant amount of the garden had been taken over by the neighbour, with a new fence then installed to honour the original property lines.
The TikToker wrote: "The property lines are exactly where they are supposed to be. Those saying 'oh I would've taken a free fence', would you also take depreciation on your properties?," adding: "Sometimes boundaries have to be established."
Thousands of viewers applauded the woman for how she dealt with the situation, with many shocked by the neighbour's selfishness. Others commented that they would have done the exact same thing, branding her plan the "ultimate revenge".
"Normalise not allowing your neighbours to run over you for easing tension," one person commented, "If their fence stays there, they gain that property."
Another approving viewer said: "If they allow the neighbours to fence that property, it becomes their property. The one taking it down loses equity."
"I can’t believe they had it that far over on your property," said a third, while another wrote: "I get that they wanted the fence straight for aesthetic reasons, but that was A LOT of land in the back there that they tried to claim." One viewer praised her handling of the situation, writing: "You handled this with grace and it looks amazing."
However, one said the woman had gone too far and didn't see the need for such drastic action to be taken: "They are good neighbours." Another said: "Wish I got a free fence".
A third said: "Oh, you're a Karen," while a one user added: "People like you are so selfish and impossible to deal with."
