A Gorton woman says a ‘lazy’ delivery driver has ruined a pair of brand new trainers after they were dumped into a rain-soaked wheelie bin.
Lydia Mbuyi ordered a pair of trainers for herself and some joggers for her son last Friday from JD Sports online — and shelled out extra to get next-day delivery.
That was so her son could have the trousers before he went away for the weekend, and as expected, she received a text from Hermes advising her that her package would arrive between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Saturday.

Knowing that she would be working, Lydia asked for the parcel to be left with her retired neighbours, who were in at the time.
However, she returned to her Hemsworth Road home to find that her package had been left in the blue wheelie bin — which was soaked in water after days of rain.
“When I opened the bin it was full of water,” Lydia told the Manchester Evening News . “There was water from the rain. Whoever delivered it threw it in the bin.
“There were three people [next door when it was delivered] — why leave it in the bin?
“They are always in. They always are okay with collecting my parcels, I have been doing it for a while.”
The damage done to the joggers for her son meant Lydia had to go to Asda to pick him up a new pair.
Despite the fact she had to spend more than she planned, Lydia says she does not want compensation.
She added: “I want to make sure the whole world knows what they have done.
“I do not want compensation. I just want this to stop. That’s all I want. I want them to do their jobs properly. It is just lazy.”
In response, a Hermes spokesperson said: "We will speak to the courier involved to ensure that this does not happen again.
"We will also get in touch with the customer to apologise.
"We appreciate that she does not want compensation so we will be offering to make a donation to a charity of her choice."
