A woman from Salford has been arrested after police in Merseyside stopped an Audi and found a 'large quantity' of cocaine inside, it's been revealed.
The 36-year-old, who is from the Eccles area, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, Merseyside Police said. Her and two others who were arrested remained in police custody for questioning on Friday night, the force added.
The car was initially stopped by police on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of having no insurance - and the seizure led police to a house where further drugs and cash were uncovered.
Police have released video clips which show the drugs stashed in sports bags and plastic bags, with a large amount of banknotes stuffed inside a child's cardboard container with unicorns on it. The Audi was stopped in Knowsley, Merseyside, at 3pm on Thursday.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "Three people have been arrested and cash and suspected cocaine seized following the stop of a vehicle in Knowsley.
"At around 3pm an Audi was stopped on the Knowsley Expressway on suspicion of having no insurance. The vehicle was searched and a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs were found, and the driver and passenger detained.
"A 43-year-old woman from Garston was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, drug driving and driving with no insurance. A 36-year-old woman from Eccles, Greater Manchester was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
"Further searches were carried out at an address in Croxteth, where further suspected Class A drugs and cash were found. Here, a 29-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. All three are now in custody for questioning."
The force said the investigation was part of the Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership (OCP), made up of a specialist team of officers from the National Crime Agency and Merseyside Police, which was launched in April 2021 to protect the public by tacking high-risk organised crime groups.
