A tragic incident unfolded at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, where the lifeless body of a woman was discovered entangled in a baggage conveyor belt. The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Virginia Christine Vinton, hailing from Waxhaw, North Carolina, as confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Authorities were alerted to the distressing scene after firefighters responded to a 911 call and located Vinton’s body ensnared in the belt in a baggage room near an international flight terminal. The discovery took place at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Surveillance footage revealed that Vinton entered the restricted area around 2:27 a.m. that same day, although the footage did not capture the events that transpired thereafter. The room where the tragic incident occurred is off-limits to the general public, raising questions about why Vinton was present in that location. Notably, a spokesperson from the U.S. Department of Labor clarified that Vinton was not an employee of the airport.

An autopsy to determine the cause of Vinton’s death was scheduled for Friday, as announced by the Medical Examiner's Office. Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities have refrained from providing further details or speculating on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
