A woman has been found dead after emergency services rushed to a blaze in Edinburgh.
Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a flat in the Warriston Drive area of the capital around 8.45am on Saturday following reports of a concern for person.
Sadly, the body of a woman was found within the flat and there was also a small fire within the property which was extinguished by fire crews.
As reported in Edinburgh Live, the death is currently being treated as unexplained and a joint investigation between police and the fire service is underway.
The woman is not believed to have died as a result of the fire and there do not appeal to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Evening News : “Around 8.30am on Saturday, May 27, we were called to a report of a concern for a person in the Warriston Drive area of Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended and the body of a woman was found within a flat. There was also a small fire at the property which was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be suspicious circumstances.
"A joint enquiry with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Four appliances from the SFRS were mobilised to the scene, with the blaze extinguished around 40 minutes later.
