Woman found dead in Barrhead after police race to early-morning incident

A woman has been found dead in Barrhead after police were called to an overnight incident.

Officers received reports of 'concern for a person' in Carlibar Road just after 12.30am on Thursday.

Emergency crews raced to the East Renfrewshire town where a 57-year-old woman was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

Her passing is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police confirmed the incident to Glasgow Live on Thursday afternoon.

A spokeswoman said: "We were called at around 12.35am on Thursday, June 2 to reports of a concern for a person in Carlibar Road, Barrhead.

"Emergency services attended and a 57-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"As with all sudden deaths a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
