Investigation launched after woman in her 30s found dead at house
A woman has been found dead in a home in Kirkby.
Emergency services were called to a report at around 5.30pm on Saturday (June 11) that a 38-year-old woman was found dead in an address on Brook Hey Drive in Northwood. Detectives are now appealing for information.
Detective Inspector Alyson Keenan said: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that a 38-year-old woman was found dead at a property on Brook Hey Drive. We are in the very early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish what has taken place and how she died.
“We urge anyone who may have seen or know something that might help with the investigation to please contact us.”
Dad smoking cigarette on balcony thrown in air by explosion
A dad was smoking a cigarette on his balcony when he was thrown into the air by the force of an explosion.
Adam Walker, 32, heard the sound of a loud bang followed by his three-year-old son Jaxon screaming as the explosion tore through a block of flats on Tanfields in Skelmserdale on May 17. Police said five people managed to get out of the building before emergency services arrived, and thankfully none of them were seriously injured.
A man later attended Ormskirk Hospital with burn injuries which are not life-threatening. Adam, his partner Sophie Croft, 26, and their son Jaxon were among the families forced to evacuate their homes following the explosion.

Nan, 90, with 'biggest family in Merseyside' still buys presents for them all
A nan who joked "no one has a bigger family in Merseyside than me" still buys everyone a birthday and Christmas present.
Eleanor Dougherty, known as 'Nellie', is approaching her 91st birthday later this year. Nellie has long joked with her family that she has the biggest family in Merseyside.
At the most recent count Nellie has a family tree of over 150 family members including 93 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren. And the 90-year-old, described by family members as "the most loving and caring person you could ever meet", still buys every member of her family and all their partners a present on their birthdays and at Christmas.
