A woman has been rushed to hospital with critical injuries following a collision with a lorry in Greenwich.

The pedestrian suffered chest, head and leg injuries on A2 Shooters Hill Road near Greenwich Park just after 7am on Wednesday, Metropolitan Police said.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and the woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A2 Shooters Hill Rd remains closed between Prince Charles Rd and Charlton Way for an investigation.

LAS said in a statement: "We were called at 7.15am to reports of a road traffic collision in Shooters Hill, Greenwich.

"We sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

"The first paramedic arrived in less than five minutes. We treated a patient at the scene for chest, head and leg injuries and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority."

There have been no arrests, the Met said.

Heavy traffic has been reported around Blackheath, Deptford, Greenwich and Lee Green.

There are reports the collision occured near the pedestrian crossing on Shooters Hill Road which connects Blackheath to Duke Humphrey Road and Greenwich Park.

It comes just days after a 77-year-old woman died after being hit by a bus near Tooting Broadway Tube station on Friday.

The pensioner, who has not been named by police, died of her injuries on Saturday after the collision on Tooting High Street involving a route 131 bus on Friday afternoon.
