Update: Woman fighting for life after fall on Mathew Street say police

A woman is fighting for her life after being attacked in Liverpool City Centre.

Merseyside Police were called at around 2.50am on Thursday February 16 following reports of a woman being attacked on Mathew Street. Once officers arrived at the scene they were told the woman, in her 20s, was attacked by another woman in the street.

The victim sustained a serious head injury and was rushed to hospital where she is fighting for her life in a critical condition. Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.

The woman is currently in police custody.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident and has information to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook, with reference 23000136197.
