A woman died after she was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon in the Uptown neighborhood.
A man, 39, was traveling in a gray Honda accord around 3 p.m. near Sunnyside Avenue and Hazel Street when he attempted to make a left turn and struck 44-year-old Yehuala Melkama as she crossed the street, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Melkama, who lived less than a block away, was pronounced dead about a half hour later, the medical examiner’s office said.
The man was given citations, police said.
