A woman has reminisced and shared her memories of the day she asked the Queen for an ice cream, creating an iconic photo in the process.
Bex Bagot was just two years old when she was in the presence of royalty as the Queen made a landmark trip to the Altcar training camp in Hightown in 1985. The ECHO recently published a look back at the visit that prompted Bex to get in touch as she saw her two-year-old self take pride of place as the main photo of the nostalgic piece.
She has now revealed that not only has she never seen the photo before, but she also asked the Queen for an ice cream which caused her to laugh out loud. The photo shows the Queen speaking to family members of those in the training camp that had gathered to greet the monarch at the rural army base.

The mum-of-four told the ECHO: "I wasn't that old, I turn three that August but I do have pretty strong memories of that day. I remember police searching the car as we went in because there was very high security on the day because I think there had been a bomb threat or something.
"I remember the car being searched and then all of us lining up to wait for the Queen. My mum said the Queen actually made a beeline for us because I was around the same age as Prince William. She kind of turned, saw us and came straight over to us.
"Me, being not even three years old, took one look at her flowers and asked her 'could I have an ice cream?'. Apparently, my mum had to translate what I said because I was so young and that's why you can see the Queen laughing in the photos because my mum had just told her what I had said.
"Apparently, the Queen said something like she didn't know about any ice cream but there would be some sausages at the barbeque later. My family loves that I once asked the Queen for ice cream."
Bex, who is from Wigan, was there with her mum and other members of her family as her dad was one of the soldiers at the base that greeted the Queen on her arrival as she inspected the hundreds of troops. Now BEx has shared another photo, the only one she thought existed, of her and her mum chatting to the Queen.
