Woman tastes bizarre newly discovered penis-shaped clam and her reaction is hilarious

For many the idea of throwing their head back and sliding a slippery shellfish down their throat is a vomit inducing thought.

One iron stomached woman has upped the ante by chomping the head off a newly discovered penis-shaped clam.

A video has emerged of the woman grabbing the curiously shaped mollusk by the base, which looks fairly similar to a large German sausage emerging from one end of a bread bun.

The adventurous eater taps then the shellfish on its end which causes a stream of water to spurt out.

It squirts translucent liquid for several seconds before the woman suddenly puts it in her mouth and bites off a big chunk.

She looks momentarily taken aback before going back in for another try.

It is only once she is a third of the way down the foot long crustacean that its taste seems to really kick in, causing the woman to retch.

When its not providing a centre piece for bizarre videos, the wood-boring clam dwells at the bottom of the ocean and, as its name suggests, eats wood.

Despite only recently coming to light, it is thought the clams are fairly common on the sea floor.
