Woman 'driving Kia badly' was disqualified and tested positive for cocaine

A driver stopped by police for poor driving was found to be disqualified and also tested positive for cocaine, police said.

Merseyside Police stopped a Kia Niro on Station Road in Haydock, in the early hours of January 8 after it was noticed that the car was being driven erratically. Officers said the driving was "not up to the standards we are used to in Haydock."

Records showed the woman driving the Kia was disqualified from driving, and a roadside drugs wipe came back positive for cocaine.

Police confirmed that a 31-year-old woman from Haydock was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the specified limit for drugs and driving while disqualified. She has since been released under investigation.

In a statement on social media, Merseyside Police said: "Eagle eyed officers from Team two spotted a vehicle not driving to the standard that we are used to here in Haydock. The driver was found to be disqualified and tested positive for cocaine."
