Woman discovers little-known rice packet feature that makes microwaving even easier

When you're preparing food in the microwave, most of the time you're looking for something fast, filling, and convenient.

Luckily for anyone who loves microwavable rice - a mum has discovered a 'life-changing' tip that makes the process even easier.

As @budgetingmum demonstrated in a video shared to TikTok, there's a little-known feature to stop your pack of rice from falling over as it heats up.

The creator who uncovered the little-known feature explained: "I was today years old when I discovered this hack."

She then held up a packet of Asda's golden veg micro rice before gently pulling apart two tabs to create a stand.

"No more falling over," the mum praised as she showed off the results.

In the caption, the parent added: "Anyone else not realise that if you pull these bits open at the bottom of the rice, it stands up and doesn't fall over in the microwave."

Her video has since amassed over 400,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

Several responders were delighted by the advice and keen to try it out.

"I have been using this rice for years and it always falls over!! I'm using this next time!" read one such reply.

"Mine tip over hahaha the best the best", said another, and a third wrote: "Really?? Why did I not know this??"

"Nice one, have this problem at work," a commenter revealed. Some even dubbed it a 'game changer' or said: "You've changed my life."

But not everyone was so impressed. "Never done that and mine have always stayed upright in the microwave??" read one unimpressed reply.

"You're the chosen one," someone quipped. A second agreed: "You're lucky."

The mum also responded: "Mine literally fall after 0.3 seconds of the microwave going on", before adding two laughing emojis along with her message.
