Woman dies in M5 crash between car and lorry

A woman has died after her car crashed with a lorry on the M5.

The crash happened yesterday (Monday, May 16) just before 1.30pm between junctions five and six of the southbound carriageway, in Worcestershire, reports GloucestershireLive.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 1.26pm, bringing two ambulances and a paramedic officer. The Midlands Air Ambulance, sent from Strensham, also attended.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived at the scene to find the driver of the car in a critical condition after coming into collision with an HGV. Crews worked quickly to administer advanced trauma care to the woman. But sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save her, and she was confirmed deceased on scene."

There were long delays in the area as a result of the crash and a diversion route was in place.
