Woman dies in hit-and-run crash at Wudinna as police search for road train driver

South Australian police are appealing for the truck driver to come forward. (ABC News: Michael Clements)

Police are looking for a truck driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on the Eyre Peninsula, which resulted in the death of a woman days later.

The 42-year-old pedestrian was struck by a road train just before 8pm on Saturday on Eyre Highway near the intersection of Rashleigh Road at Wudinna.

The woman, from the far west of the state, died at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday.

The truck failed to stop at the scene and police said it continued west on the Eyre Highway out of Wudinna.

A second truck heading west drove past a short time later.

Police are appealing for both the truck drivers or witnesses to come forward.

South Australia's road toll stands at 58 so far this year compared to 33 at the same time last year.
