A woman has died after a crash involving a lorry near Caerphilly. The incident happened at around 1.20pm on Friday afternoon on the A467 between the town of Crumlin and the village of Aberbeeg.
Emergency services attended the scene, including police, paramedics, air ambulance personnel and firefighters. The crash involved a black Ford KA, a blue Citroen C1 and a lorry. The driver of the Ford - a 59-year-old woman - was taken to hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, but sadly died later, police have confirmed. Her family is being supported by specialist officers from Gwent Police.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the crash to come forward. A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on the A467 between Crumlin and Aberbeeg at around 1.20pm on Friday, January 13. Officers attended, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service, Welsh Air Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue.
“A 59-year-old woman from the Newport area was taken to hospital where she later died. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. We’re asking for any motorists with dashcam footage that were using the A467 between 1pm and 2pm to contact us.
