Woman dies and man in hospital after horror crash near Scots golf course

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a road crash near a golf course in Ayrshire.

She was driving a blue Volkswagen Golf on the A71 road at Galston, near Loudon Golf Club.

The incident, which also involved a white Vauxhall Corsa and a green Land Rover Discovery, happened around 5.25pm on Saturday July 20.

A 37-year-old man who was driving the Corsa was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.

“Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then make contact with officers.”

Anyone who can help has been asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2805 of July 20.

The road was reopened in the early hours of Sunday.
