Woman dies after horror car and lorry crash on Highlands road

A woman has died following a horror crash between a car and an articulated lorry on a road in the Scottish Highlands.

Emergency services raced to the A95 at Broomhill, near Aviemore, at around 7.45am yesterday. A 38-year-old woman, who had been driving a grey Ford Focus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 53-year-old male driver of the Volvo truck was uninjured. The road was closed for eight hours while cops carried out an investigation into the fatal smash.

Police Scotland have appealed for any witnesses to come forward, and have asked anyone with dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.

Sergeant Chris Donaldson of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died as a result of this crash, and our enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed, or was in the area around the time of the crash to contact us and I would also ask that anyone who may have dashcam footage which could assist our investigation to get in touch.”

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0487 of September 14.’’
