Woman dies after falling ill at McDonald's branch in Paisley retail park

A woman has died after becoming unwell while at a McDonald's branch in Paisley.

Police and an ambulance rushed to the fast food outlet in Phoenix Retail Park this afternoon around 12.20pm following reports that a customer had taken unwell on the premises.

The 43-year-old was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but died a short time later.

The Linwood Road branch was closed following the incident this afternoon.

Officers could be seen inside the premises speaking with staff, with officers stationed outside in the car park diverting traffic away from the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received report of a woman having taken unwell within a premises at Phoenix Retail Park in Paisley around 12.20pm on Thursday, 14 April, 2022.

“The woman was conveyed to Royal Alexandra Hospital where she died a short time later.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

McDonald's has been contacted for comment.
