Woman dies after car crashes into wall in Thornbury

A woman has died following a crash in South Gloucestershire which has also left a man critically injured. Avon and Somerset Police said a Honda Jazz was driving along Rock Street in, towards Midland Way, in Thornbury at around 10.50am when it crashed into a wall after the Streamleaze junction on May 4.

In an update from the force, a spokesperson said a woman who was a passenger in the car died in hospital on May 10. Meanwhile, a man driving the car was seriously injured and at the time of writing (May 16), he remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Avon and Somerset Police has launched an appeal for witnesses after the collision. A statement from police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a single-vehicle collision in Thornbury in which a woman died.

"A Honda Jazz was being driven along Rock Street, towards Midland Way, when it collided with a wall shortly after the Streamleaze junction at about 10.50am on Thursday, May 4. The male driver and female passenger were serious injured.

"Sadly the woman died in hospital on Wednesday 10 May. The driver remains in a critical condition in hospital. The woman’s family are being supported by a specially-trained officer.

"We’d ask anyone who witnessed the collision, or recalls seeing the car that morning, to get in touch. If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223103620, or complete our online appeals form.
