A woman has died after being knocked down in a horror incident on the M8 in Glasgow.
Emergency services scrambled to the busy motorway, near junction eight, after the alarm was raised at around 7.10pm on Saturday November 19. Officers were alerted to the report a female pedestrian had been struck by a white BMW 5 Series car near the slip for Coatbridge Road.
Ambulance crews attended, but the 49-year-old woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. A 41-year-old man, who was the driver of the car, was taken to Monklands Hospital as a precaution.
The motorway was quickly closed as cops launched an investigation into the crash. It re-opened at around 2am on Sunday.
Sergeant Nicholas Twigg said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened continue.
“We are asking anyone who saw the woman before the crash or saw what happened to get in touch. Anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation is also asked to contact us.”
Anyone who can assist officers is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2868 of Saturday, November 19.
