A woman has died after being hit by a train in Nottinghamshire, police have confirmed. The woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after they were called to the line in Attenborough at 9.08pm on Thursday (February 23).
British Transport Police, who were also called to the scene, said the incident is not being treated as suspicious. "Officers were called to the line in Attenborough at 9.08pm last night (February 23) following reports of a casualty on the tracks," said a force spokesperson.
"Paramedics also attended. However, sadly a woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner." Trains on the routes from Nottingham to London St Pancras, Leicester, Derby, Crewe and Lincoln were disrupted last night. A tweet posted by East Midlands Railway read: "We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.
"This has occurred between East Midlands Parkway/Long Eaton and Nottingham. Trains in to and out of Nottingham will be disrupted for the remainder of the evening."
