Woman dies after being found unresponsive in bar bathroom after two drinks

A young woman died on a night out after having two drinks and ‘a small amount of cocaine,' according to reports.

Amanda Peake collapsed in the bathroom of the KG Sports Bar in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, back on September 18, 2021.

Minutes later, the woman in her 30s was found unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital after attempts to revive her at the scene. She was sadly then pronounced dead by paramedics.

An inquest into her death heard that Amanda had been living with a heart condition and "could have passed away at any time.”

Assistant Coroner Tanyka Rawden said while the cocaine she took on the night may have contributed to her death, it did not cause it.

The inquest heard Amanda had been suffering from acute myocardial ischemia - a condition that reduces the heart’s ability to pump blood, while Yorkshire Live reported that she also had heart disease.

Ms. Rawden said: "It feels wrong to say that this was a drug-related death, because also, as the pathologist tells me, effectively Amanda could have passed away at any time, particularly if she was under any physical stress.

"So, although it has contributed to her death, the cocaine use hasn't directly caused her death."
