Woman criticised for piercing baby’s ears in viral TikTok

A fellow TikToker suggested that she “should have let him get old enough to choose if he wants his ears pierced”

A viral TikTok video of a baby boy getting his ears pierced sparked a furious debate with some saying he was “way too young.”

In the clip that has been viewed over 300,000 times, the mum wrote: “Watch my baby get his ears pierced.”

The TikTok showed the nervous mum cradling her baby while the procedure was taking place. She flinched when she heard the sound of the piercing.

Inevitably, the baby starts to cry after the first ear. “I’m so proud. You look so cute,” his mum is heard saying.

The piercer moved on to the second ear, warning: “The second one is always worse. I don’t know why, but it’s always worse.”

Once complete, his mum comforts her crying baby, who appears to be just a few months old.

“I’m so proud of you,” she said.

The viral clip received hundreds of comments judging the mum for the procedure. She hit back and responded: “Y’all realize I’m getting paid for all y’all weird obsessed comments – go off y’all!!!!!!!! Keep me paid (sic).”

“No words apart from why would you do that to a newborn,” another critic commented, to which she responded: “Mind your business.”

One TikTok user suggested she “should have let him get old enough to choose if he wants his ears pierced,” adding “#Iblamethepeircertoo.”

“You’re just trying to be cool,” another added. “Yes, he’s your child but don’t put it out there if you don’t want people’s opinion.”

“Unnecessary pain to a child. Children that can voice this is their choice should only have this. Mum and ear piercer should not do this. Poor baby,” another added.

One TikToker jumped to the defence of the mum, saying: “Did you birth her baby? Let her do what she wants her baby her choices these comments are ridiculous.”

Another user concluded: “Calm down. They’re not your child so keep your opinion to yourself.”
