A woman was cleared today of stabbing her former best friend outside a primary school.
Sabrina McVey, 32, was accused of assaulting Alex Gibson, 36, at the school in Glasgow's east end on June 14, 2021.
Miss Gibson stated McVey "charged" up to her and struck her with a metal object to the face, head and back. She added that she bled and later required stitches at hospital.
McVey pled not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Miss Gibson to her injury and permanent disfigurement.
The charge stated McVey, of the city's Barmulloch, struck Miss Gibson on the head and body with a screwdriver.
McVey had lodged a special defence of self-defence.
She faced a further charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the same time and place.
However, the jury came back with a verdict of not guilty to the two charges and McVey was acquitted by Sheriff Lindsay Wood.
