Woman claims cat has a 'Scouse' accent - and very Liverpudlian meow

Have you ever wondered whether cats have accents, just like we do? Well, one woman has left Twitter in hysterics after pointing out that she thought a cat had a 'Scouse' meow - and when you hear it, it's impossible to un-hear.

The woman took to Twitter, reposting a video from the TikTok account @phineasthecat, to question whether anyone else could hear the fact that the cat seems to have a Scouse accent.

She wrote: "No but why does the cat have a scouse accent? Someone, anyone tell me you hear it too", followed by a pair of crying emojis.

In the video, the cat's owner has written: "Setting the world record for longest meow", but social media users were more drawn to the fact that the cat sounds like it was born and raised in Merseyside.

The ginger puss lets out a really long meow at the start of the video, but it's the third meow that becomes very Liverpudlian.

In the comments, people found it side-splitting, wondering how the cat had such a strong accent.

One wrote: "Noooo you can't un-hear the Scouse accent now!"

"The cat sounds like it's searching for its African grey parrot who answers to the name of Chanel", someone joked, referring to the parrot that went missing from Liverpool during lockdown.

Another person hilariously wrote: "He's from Meowsyside, that's why!"

"This is the funniest thing I've seen on Twitter in years", someone praised, and another agreed to say that it had them "in tears", as they followed their comment with a skull emoji.

A cat-lover commented: "Very good content", whilst another simply thanked the original poster for bringing the cat's accent to everyone's attention.
