Woman claiming to be missing Madeleine McCann 'submits DNA samples'

A Polish woman who believes that she could be Madeleine McCann has reportedly given DNA samples to prove if she is the missing girl. Julia Wendell, 21, was whisked to California, US, after receiving death threats in her home country.

She had previously gone viral on Instagram after posting 'evidence' that she is Madeleine. Julia says that she is at a safe house with a private detective and self-professed medium Dr Fia Johansson, who are probing her claims.

According to the Star, her family in Poland have denied her claims, with the parents blocking her number and refusing to take DNA tests. However, the private detective has claimed to have visited Wroclaw (the city Julia supposedly grew up in) and said that they have found no hospital records relating to the first five years of her life.

Speaking to RadarOnline, Dr Johansson said Julia has sent off three DNA samples for forensic analysis as well as a genetic test to establish her ancestry (something akin to 23andMe).

"If the results come back that she’s British or from that area then we are going to continue our investigation into Madeleine McCann and communicate with the detectives in Portugal," Dr Johansson told the publication. We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland."

Julia has claimed not to remember large parts of her childhood and says she was never treated like part of the family. She also said she was abused by a German paedophile who resembled a one-time suspect in Madeleine's disappearance.

She supposedly found a family photo of that man in an older relative's house.
