A woman in South Australia has been charged with producing and distributing extremist material.

The counter-terrorism and security section of SA Police arrested the 26-year-old from Cowandilla on Monday, saying she produced and distributed the extremist material between Saturday and Monday.

The woman has been bailed to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on December 15.

Police reassured the community there was no threat to public safety following the arrest.
