Woman charged with manslaughter after alleged neglect of 81yo man in Sydney

A 61-year-old woman has been charged with manslaughter and alleged neglect after the death of a man in Sydney's inner west.

Last year, police found the man, 84, semi-conscious and uncared for when they were called to a house on Nelson Street at Rozelle on Sunday, May 1.

The man spent months in hospital but succumbed to his injuries in December.

Liliya Nemirovskaya was arrested this morning about 9am at the same address after an extensive investigation by Strike Force Bondy, which was set up following the incident.

She was taken to Newtown Police Station and was charged with manslaughter and refuse to provide necessities of life.

After appearing at Downing Centre Local Court today, Ms Nemirovskaya was granted conditional bail that includes the surrender of her passport and daily check-ins at Balmain Police Station.

She is also required to provide $30,000 as security.

Ms Nemirovskaya is next due to appear at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on March 23.
