A WOMAN has been charged with assault after a milkshake was thrown at Nigel Farage during an election campaign event.
Essex Police have charged Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25 with assault by beating and criminal damage after the incident in Clacton-on-Sea on Tuesday.
Farage was led away by Reform UK officials after he was doused by what appeared to be a McDonald's milkshake outside a pub in the Brexit-backing seaside town where he officially launched his candidacy for the upcoming election.
It will be the eighth time he has run for Westminster, having previously failed on seven occasions to be elected to the UK Parliament.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Essex Police said Thomas Bowen would appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday July 2.
A 44-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker has been released and will face no further action.
