A woman in her 40s has been charged with attempted murder over an incident in southern Tasmania last night.
Tasmania Police said a 74-year-old man is in a critical condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital after he was shot and stabbed at a home on Humphrey Street, New Norfolk.
Officers were called to the scene around 8pm on Friday and arrested a 47-year-old woman, Tamara Nicole Adams, who briefly appeared in an out-of-hours court session on Saturday morning.
Ms Adams applied for bail but it was denied. She will reappear in court next Monday.
In a statement, police said the pair were "known to each other and there is no threat to the wider community".
