Woman causes Ryanair chaos, jailed last week and woman's warning signs

These are the latest Liverpool ECHO headlines this morning.

Woman told 'stay off the vodka' after Ryanair chaos

A woman who fled to Ireland after stabbing a homeless woman with a broken wine glass was previously rapped after causing "havoc" on a flight.

Keisha Harty was jailed earlier this month after angrily flipping over a table before launching herself at the victim during a boozy New Year's Eve party, leaving her with a permanent scar. She then went on the run for nearly a year before finally being brought to justice when she was caught shoplifting.

The ECHO can now reveal that the 26-year-old walked free from court back in 2017 after a drunken rampage while flying between Cork and Liverpool John Lennon Airport as she travelled to see her dying granddad. Harty screamed and shouted at cabin crew and fell into other passengers on the Ryanair flight, forcing a pregnant woman to move out of the way.

The then 20-year-old was told she had avoided immediate jail time only because the incident began after the aircraft had touched down in the November of the previous year. An air stewardess had noticed her kneeling up in her chair after the seatbelt light had been activated for the plane to begin its descent, and while she agreed to sit down and fasten her belt the staff member sat close by "to keep an eye on her" as she noticed the defendant was slurring her words.

'If you spot signs, talk to someone' warns woman whose periods 'suddenly stopped'

A woman who did not recognise herself in the mirror is raising awareness of a life changing phase half the population faces.

Yvonne Lloyd, of Crosby, was 50 when her periods "suddenly stopped" due to the menopause. A few months later, she then began experiencing "hot sweats", especially at night, meaning she was losing sleep and was "tired all the time".

She also developed arthritis in her hand and lost 50% of her hair which went "really thin" and had a "zero sex drive". She told the ECHO: "I was starting to look older in the mirror, my skin was looking dull, the skin was getting slack around the jawline and my wrinkles were getting deeper."

With no energy, having to "always push herself", Yvonne wasn't quite sure what it all was until she realised she was going through the menopause. The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is a natural part of ageing.

But Yvonne is sharing her journey in the hopes of raising awareness so other women know what to look out for and to get people talking. She said: "I don't know if there's a taboo or a lack of education. My mum went through menopause and all she said was she had the sweats, that was it. I was led to believe it's just a part of getting old. Read more here.
